DOG TRAINING CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
STAR Puppy:
Skills introduced: Housebreaking, biting, chewing, crate training, name recognition, coming when called, basic grooming and handling, walking on a leash, sit and down with stay, relationship building, puppy socialization, and positive reinforcement. Course fee includes STAR Puppy title test and Novice Tricks title test.
Prerequisites: a puppy who has been started with puppy series vaccines
Items needed for class: a hungry puppy, tasty high value treats, dog brush
CGC or CGCA or CGCU:
These courses focus on the 10 test items specific to earning each of the Canine Good Citizen titles. Course fee includes CGC or CGCA or CGCU title test on last day of session.

Beginner Novice:
This course focuses on the exercises needed to earn a BN.
Focused progressions: learning heel position, figure 8, sit for exam, sit/down with stay to walk around ring, recall, building duration and distractions, circles, focus, and intro to cone work. C
Prerequisites: none

Novice:
This course focuses on the exercises needed to earn a CD.
Focused progressions: on leash heel, on leash figure 8, stand for exam, off leash heeling, recall, sit to get leash, and long sit and down.
Prerequisites: Beginner Novice course and 1 BN leg or BN title or instructor approval

Novice Plus:
This course continues to fine-tune the novice skills and introduces the new Open exercises: jumping, dumbbell retrieves, drop on recall, broad jump, and signals.
Prerequisites: Novice course and BN title or 1 CD leg or instructor approval

Open:
This course focuses on the exercises needed to earn a CDX.
Focused progressions: off leash heeling, off leash figure 8, command discrimination, drop on recall, retrieve on flat, retrieve over high, broad jump, and stand to get leash.
Prerequisites: Novice Plus course and 2 CD legs or instructor approval
Items needed for class: tasty treats, dumbbell, tab leash
Open Plus:
This course continues to fine tune the Open skills and introduces the new Utility exercises: signal exercises, articles, gloves, and go outs.
Prerequisites: Open course and CD title or 1 CDX leg or instructor approval
Items needed for class: tasty treats, dumbbell, set of articles, gloves, tab leash
Utility:
This course focuses on the exercises needed to earn a UD.
Focused progressions: signal exercise, articles, gloves, moving stand, and directed jumping.
Prerequisites: Open Plus course and 2 CDX legs or CDX or instructor approval
Items needed for class: tasty treats, set of articles, gloves, tab leash
Utility Plus:
This course focuses on the UDX title. Teams in this course will continue to work on the Open and Utility exercises.
Rally Intro:
This course focuses on learning the rules and procedures for Rally Obedience. Rally Novice signs and sequences will be introduced. Participants will practice proper heeling speeds, turns, and familiarize themselves with novice content.
Prerequisites: Beginner Novice proficiency

Rally Novice:
This course focuses on Rally Novice signs and coursework. Participants will practice Novice courses and may have their runs videotaped for submission to AKC for scoring.
Prerequisites: Beginner Novice proficiency or Rally Intro
Items needed for class: tasty treats, 6 foot leash, cell phone for recording
Rally Intermediate:
This course focuses on Rally Intermediate signs and coursework. Participants will practice Intermediate courses and may have their runs videotaped for submission to AKC for scoring.
Prerequisites: Rally Novice title

Rally Advanced:
This course focuses on Rally Advanced signs and coursework. Participants will practice Advanced courses and may have their runs videotaped for submission to AKC for scoring. At this level, the courses are off leash.

Rally Excellent:
This course focuses on Rally Excellent signs and coursework. Participants will practice Excellent courses and may have their runs videotaped for submission to AKC for scoring. At this level, the courses are off leash.

Rally Master:
This course focuses on Rally Master signs and coursework. This course is to fine tune Rally skills to earn doubles and triples towards the RACH title. At this level, the courses are off leash.

Agility Intro:
This course will introduce the sport of agility. Teams will begin to learn jumping, sequencing, and contact obstacles.
Prerequisites: Beginner Novice proficiency
Items needed for class: tasty treats, a tab leash (6-9 inches), regular leash
Agility ACT1:
This course will focus on short sequences with crosses. Participants will work towards the ACT1 titles.
Prerequisites: Beginner Novice proficiency, Agility Intro, or instructor approval

Agility ACT2:
This course will focus on short sequences with crosses. Participants will work towards the ACT2 titles.

Agility Novice:
This course will focus on Novice level courses.

Agility Advanced:
This class will not have an instructor. The purpose is for experienced teams to practice skills and courses with friends. A nested course will be set up for practice. Participants are encouraged to submit a desired course for the subsequent week's class. Class size is limited to 6 participants and the cost is reduced since there is no instructor.
